The Quiet Glow of a Cold Glass of Beer
This cold glass of beer holds more than amber light. Its skin of condensation catches the white studio glow, while the dark drink keeps the rest of the story half-hidden.
Back to my school years. I made this photograph for a class, at a time when I missed shooting products in a studio. I think I used an 18-105 lens, although I am not completely sure, and there may have been some digital zoom involved.
The foam could have been lit better, and the framing is not exactly brilliant. Still, a cold glass of beer can make you slow down and look at small things: water on glass, a warm color inside, and the patience required to keep practicing. That old exercise still feels like a useful lesson.
