The Voice Inside a Crow Silhouette on a Branch
A crow silhouette on a branch cuts into the pale sky, framed by dark pine needles like a small stage. Its beak is open, so the bird looks less like a still shape and more like it is about to announce something to the whole island. The old image carries a parade of logos, but the silhouette still owns the frame.
I love crows. They are intelligent, beautiful and endlessly good at refusing to look ordinary. I have written that before, probably in another crow post, but I am happy to say it again.
When I filmed an islands video, I tossed simit to a crow. It ate the first one or two, then carried the rest under the grass and hid them. I was genuinely surprised. The video was probably from Heybeliada, but I will not pretend my archive memory is perfect.
I want to keep making crow photographs. A longer telephoto lens would be lovely one day, but this older, logo-heavy frame still has its own voice. A crow silhouette on a branch can say quite a lot without showing every feather. Stay well. 😊
Update: August 11, 2026 – Image added to replace the old low-quality image.
