Boats Crossing an Istanbul Golden Sunset
Karakoy. At least, that is what I call it, although the exact name of the area may be different. I was on the Halic side, among the hardware shops, looking out at boats moving through a deep orange Istanbul golden sunset. The map may need correcting, but the light does not.
Never mind the name. What stayed with me was the beautiful red glow settling over the water, the boats becoming dark shapes and the city fading into the warm haze. An Istanbul golden sunset can make a familiar shoreline feel briefly anonymous and completely new.
Have you ever remembered a place more by its light than by its exact name?
