An Old Heybeliada House Framed by Trees
An old house with a sea view on Heybeliada can appear for only a few seconds between the trees. This one sits in a narrow opening of light, with a weathered stone wall, red shutters and a tiled roof looking toward the blue water. The dark leaves around it make the bright distance feel even farther away.
The Island Walk I Always Choose
Heybeliada is my favorite island. We may grumble about paying simply to use the route, but I still cannot stay annoyed with the place for long. My favorite plan is the full island walk, letting the road and the trees decide what appears next.
I think this was my first island visit with the camera. I was not looking for a grand landmark. I noticed the house because the branches, wall and sea lined up for a moment. An old house with a sea view on Heybeliada does not need a dramatic story; its quiet position already says enough.
The red shutters bring a small human warmth to the frame, while the tree trunk on the right and the heavy shade on the left keep the view private. It feels like a glimpse rather than an invitation, which is probably why I like it. The island gives you many photographs when you stop trying to force them. 🥰

Photo Update
And I searched and found the date I took this photo. July 14, 2011. The funny thing is that I’m making this update on August 12, 2026 =)
And another note, you no longer pay money to use that infamous road in Heybeliada 🧐
