The Warm Details of a Turkish Coffee Ritual
I love the small pleasure of Turkish coffee. Add a glass of plain mineral water and I am happy. Oohh. 😍
One day, while enjoying that little ritual, I thought I should photograph it. I placed a few candles on the table and made a quick still life around the cup, the patterned tray, and the small sweets. The scene was already doing most of the work.
I cannot remember whether I used natural light or added flash. If I think about my D90, a camera that always seems hungry for more light, I probably added some. The warm glow, soft background, and dark table make the Turkish coffee ritual feel slower than the actual moment was.
I am not especially talented at still life photography, as the image may politely suggest. 😁 Still, I like the whole picture. The candlelight, the coffee, the water, and the sweet little side dish create exactly the kind of pause I enjoy. This Turkish coffee ritual deserved a photograph, even if the photographer was still learning. 🥰
