Autumn on the Islands, Held in a Portrait of Güz
Autumn on the Islands with Güz is how I remember this close portrait from a walk around Büyükada, Istanbul. I made a few frames that day, and this is one of them. The island is outside the photograph, but its quiet warmth still stays with me.
Her name is Güz. In Turkish, güz also means autumn, which is why these two things belong together for me: Güz, the person I was walking with, and the soft feeling of autumn around that memory.
The color came straight from the camera. No filter, no big transformation, just the setting I used that day and a close look at someone I care about.
