A Child Sharing a High Five Through Glass on a Ferry
A child sharing a high five through glass can make a ferry crossing feel like a private little celebration. On the other side of the window, a smiling child presses a small hand toward mine. The reflections, metal frame and moving view keep the scene unmistakably inside a boat, but the gesture makes the glass disappear for a second.
A Small Moment on the Crossing
I was traveling from Istanbul toward Balikesir on the Eskihisar-Topcular car ferry. I noticed my cousin playing with a little one and quickly took the camera in my hands. I made only five or six frames. This was one of them. The child sharing a high five through glass gave me a photograph that felt much sweeter than the quick moment deserved.
The smile is small, almost private, and the red-and-gray striped sweater brings a warm rhythm into the cool window light. I like the adult hand meeting the child’s palm because it turns a simple reflection into a real exchange. No one needs to perform for the camera here. They are simply enjoying each other.
I had owned the camera for only a few months, so every unexpected scene still felt like a discovery. A short ferry ride, a family game and a few frames were enough to show me how easily happiness can travel from one side of the glass to the other.
Has anything happened that made an ordinary journey unexpectedly memorable for you?
