Istanbul Bosphorus Fireworks Turn the Water Red
Istanbul Bosphorus fireworks can make the whole horizon feel briefly unreal. In this frame, bursts of gold, blue and white dissolve into a red cloud above the water. The smoke catches every color, while the boats below hold the scene to the real world.
Watching Instead of Chasing the Shot
I had gone to the Bosphorus to watch the Republic Day celebrations. I do not remember the exact year, and I no longer want to pretend that I do. Everyone around me was taking photographs, but I preferred to watch for a while. I did not even have a tripod, as far as I remember.
The Istanbul Bosphorus fireworks were too large for a single perfect moment anyway. Some bursts overlap, some disappear into smoke and some leave only a faint reflection on the water. That disorder is part of the memory. The frame is not a technical record of the show; it is the red atmosphere that stayed with me after the noise faded.
Eventually I took a few photographs. This was one of them. It has no special claim to being the sharpest or most complete view, but it carries the excitement of standing among people who had all paused to look up. Sometimes watching first is the best way to remember what the camera cannot hold.
Have you ever watched a big fireworks show?
