An Istanbul fashion week portrait can hold a surprising amount of quiet. In this frame, the model's profile, the dark clothing and the small pool of light around her made the busy room disappear for a second.
Back in 2014 or 2015, I went to watch Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Istanbul with the fashion design department at school. I was standing among the audience, taking a few photographs while the runway kept moving.
The place set aside for photographers and video crews faced the runway directly, but it required permission beforehand. I was not there, so I took the photograph from where I stood. Sometimes that distance gives a frame its own point of view.
That is why this Istanbul fashion week portrait stays with me. It is not only about the event or the clothes. It is about one composed face, a crowd nearby and a moment that felt quietly separate from everything around it. 😅
