The Worn Surface of an Old Teapot Product Photo
Another product photograph from my home studio. This time, it is an old metal teapot that had already seen quite a few years before I placed it in front of the camera. The surface is stained, the finish is far from perfect, and the two-part form gives it the sturdy look of something that has been used properly.
I wanted to photograph it anyway. An old teapot product photo does not need to pretend that the object is brand new. The marks are part of its history, even if they are not exactly the kind of detail a product catalog would celebrate.
The image quality is not great, and I know why. I reduced the file in two stages because I wanted it to take up less space. Excellent decision, me. 😁 The kettle survived the session better than the photograph survived my file management.
Still, there is something appealing about the honest result. The white background isolates the shape, the dark reflections show the metal, and the old surface refuses to disappear completely. This old teapot product photo is not a flawless technical example. It is a small record of an object, a home studio, and one of my less brilliant compression ideas.
