Red Autumn Leaves Behind the Branches
These red autumn leaves are not waiting in an open landscape to be admired. They are tucked behind branches, crossed by darker leaves and partly hidden by the soft blur in front of the lens. The colour becomes more beautiful because it does not give itself away all at once.
A Place to Walk, Look and Let the Day Loosen Its Grip
I only had to see the photograph to think of Ataturk Arboretum. I cannot remember who I went with, but the place feels immediately familiar: somewhere to take photographs, walk without rushing, sit for a while and let the day's stress lose its grip. Some places stay in the memory through a single frame.
I have not been there for a long time. I hope it is still the same. I hope the paths still make room for people who arrive with a camera, people who arrive tired and people who only need somewhere green to be quiet for an hour.
The branches in this photograph do not make the view difficult. They make it personal. Instead of handing us the whole season, they offer a small discovery: red autumn leaves appearing between the things that first seem to be in the way. Beauty does not always need a clear path to reach us.
This photograph was taken on November 25, 2012. Looking at it still feels a little like finding the right corner of a familiar place. 🥰
Where do you go when you need to walk, breathe and leave the day's noise behind?
