When the Room Became Smaller Than the Idea
I made this for a school assignment, one of my first attempts at soda bottle photography. I had a bottle of gazoz, a lime slice, the lights I had bought for my home studio and just enough confidence to believe the room would somehow be large enough.
One Bottle, One Lime, Almost Nowhere to Step Back
It was not. My tiny room quickly became a puzzle of stands, cables and small adjustments. I could move one light, but then I could not move myself. I could change the angle, but the background changed with it. The photograph became less about having a perfect setup and more about finding one workable corner inside the chaos.
The bottle still looks calm. Condensation gathers on the glass, the lime waits in the soft background and the label holds the frame together. That contrast is what I like about this image: the picture suggests refreshment and space, while the person behind the camera is carefully trying not to knock anything over.
Later, moving to Bodrum put my home studio on hold. If I move into a larger space one day, I want to return to this kind of work with more room for light, distance and mistakes. For now, this soda bottle photography experiment remains a small record of a big beginning.
I took this photograph on March 16, 2015. 😊
Have you ever started something with more enthusiasm than space, time or equipment, and somehow made it work anyway?
