A Tiny Surprise: The Sparrow Hidden in Leaves
A sparrow hidden in leaves waits in a pocket of blue sky, almost swallowed by branches and glossy green shapes. It is not a loud or heroic bird portrait. It is the kind of quiet discovery that makes you stop and look between the leaves one more time.
This is an older frame I nearly left behind. Maybe I did not call it beautiful the first time, or maybe it simply slipped past me. Now it feels sweet. I like finding a subject through gaps, letting the leaves become a soft border around the small surprise.
The original image is not technically perfect. Its desktop quality suffers from the old compression, although the mobile view was a little kinder. I used a Nikon D90 with the 18-105 kit lens, and the camera details matter less here than the pleasure of finally noticing the moment.
A sparrow hidden in leaves does not need a dramatic sky or a perfect file to be worth keeping. Sometimes a small bird waits quietly until the right day, then steps out of the archive and says, "You missed me before." And yes, for years I remembered the children's song as if the little bird had landed on my window. My memory clearly preferred a more personal version. 😁
