A Black Cat on a Forest Road During an Island Walk
A black cat on a forest road can turn an ordinary walk into a scene that feels carefully staged. This one rests at the edge of the path, calm, watchful and completely unconcerned with whoever might be passing.
People say black cats bring bad luck. Please. Let us not place that nonsense on a face like this. If anything, meeting this beauty feels like the lucky part of the walk. 🖤
I photographed the scene during one of my island outings in Istanbul, about three months before sharing it here. I saw the cat from a distance and could not resist stopping.
I had my Nikon D90 with the 18-105mm kit lens. I wanted an even lower angle, but that would have meant lying flat on the road. If someone had been with me, I might have accepted the challenge. Alone, I decided this was low enough. 😁
For me, this black cat on a forest road feels less like a passerby and more like the quiet ruler of the place. The warm woodland tones, dark fur and long empty path keep the mystery without turning the animal into a superstition.
The next preview finds another cat peeking between tree trunks, half hidden and fully aware of the camera.
The second preview continues with Istanbul’s wonderfully unbothered street cats and their effortless way of owning every corner they choose.
This one can stay exactly as it is. Take good care of yourself. 🤗
